In 1818, Johann Peter Gottllieb Bunge founded Bunge & Co. in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, as an import/export trading firm. In 1859, Bunge became one prominent role in the world grain market. The 1970s witnessed Bunge's substantial growth-oriented entry into North America, Asia and Australia markets and Bunge set up its headquarters in Brazil, the main soybean production area. 140 years after leaving Amsterdam, Bunge's growth in the global food and agribusiness market remains paramount, to expand and diversify further, Bunge moves its global headquarters to White Plains, NY. In 2001, Bunge goes public on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE:BG.). Throughout its nearly 200-year history, Bunge has been consistently using its best endeavors to creating the quality and most cost-efficient agribusiness and food products, and continues its new round of profiting legend.
